Managed Services Engineer
GreenPages Technology Solutions is looking for experienced (3-5 years) information technology professionals to join our Managed Services team. We have an immediate opening for a Managed Services Engineer in the Boston area. This position is based in our Charlestown office, reports to the Manager of Server & Network Support, and provides direct remote support to our customer’s servers and networks. This is a great opportunity to join one of the area’s leading providers of Managed Services in a fast-paced industry. Candidates must be technically proficient, excited about technology, self-motivated, and able to provide outstanding customer service and thorough communication in all situation.
Major Goals and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct remote support of servers, networks and applications for Managed Services customers.
- Provide technical direction and escalation for Helpdesk Team. At times, may be required to field Help Desk calls.
- Installation, configuration and management of network monitoring systems.
- Continual research and development into new offerings and new technologies.
- Adhere to and innovate processes and procedures to improve service delivery
- Continually maintain and improve customer environment documentation
The successful candidate has skills in the following areas:
- Thorough working knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, and Group Policy management is required.
- Microsoft Server Software such as Exchange and SQL Server
- Anti-virus, Anti-spam and Anti-spyware
- Experience with back-ups, ideally, Symantec Backup Exec
- Basic understanding of Networking devices such as Firewalls, Routers and Switches
- Basic understanding of LAN / WAN / Wireless networking hardware and software technologies
Any of the following are a plus:
- Experience with Virtualization technologies including VMware ESX and Citrix XenServer
- Experience with Hewlett-Packard server hardware
- Thin client technologies (Citrix and Microsoft Terminal Server)
- Industry Certifications (MCP, MCSA, CCNA, CCDA, etc.)
- Systems Management Software (HP Insight Manager, Dell OpenManage)
- AS/BS Computer Networking related program or equivalent experience
This position requires coverage of weekend/evening shifts on a scheduled rotational basis.
