Strong Security for Students

The information that makes the Internet such a wonderful teaching aid is also fraught with risk, and in some cases, danger. To help overcome those risks, Congress enacted the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) in 2000. Under the guidance of CIPA, schools and libraries subject to CIPA must adopt a policy to monitor online activities of minors. With that in mind, GreenPages has created a comprehensive security program to help educational systems and libraries address potential threats to our young students.

• Language Immersion Lab

  When Providence Country Day School wanted to design a customized language lab they turned to GreenPages. This new design is truly "cutting edge" and it is the only Language Lab that combines:

  • Video and Audio conferencing for all students
  • Complete multi–language system that chooses between available languages based on the user login (ie. Spanish classes work on 100% Spanish style desktop and Office Applications)
  • Centralized management of all desktops and logins
  • Teacher auditing and review of all audio, video and student activity
  • Streaming audio and video with recording capabilities
  • Windows 2003 Active Directory integrated
• Novell to Windows Conversion

  When St. John's Preparatory School wanted to standardize on Windows 2000, it turned to GreenPages, a Microsoft Gold Certified Solutions Provider, as a partner for the conversion process. Working together, they easily converted the network from Novell to Windows 2000. The school's IT team quickly built the skill set needed for the new network and today manages the day-to-day activities of an IT infrastructure across nine buildings.

• Robust solution for Internet security

  When The Rivers School realized that it needed a more robust solution for Internet security, school decision-makers first considered upgrading the school's Linux system. After talking to several system integrators, the school teamed with GreenPages and decided to move to a solution based on Microsoft Windows Server System and Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server. The easy administration and reliability of the new system allowed the school to reduce the amount of time that the technical staff spends supporting the firewall. The ISA Server implementation represents the first step in the school's efforts to safely move forward with a more flexible system that protects students while giving them the freedom to reach the information that they need.

• Security on the Desktop, Server and Across the Internet

  When the Wakefield, Mass., Public Schools contemplated its first district-wide network, security was one of its key considerations. For an infrastructure that provided security on the desktop, at the server and across the Internet, the district chose an infrastructure based on the Microsoft® .NET platform and including Microsoft Windows® 2000 Server, the Active Directory® service and Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server.
