GreenPages' Newsletter Jan 2009

By Michael Healey, GreenPages' CTO

Overview

Our annual technology outlook has a slightly different look this year as the impact of the economy continues to hit every organization GreenPages works with. Not only will budgets be constrained, many organizations will be forced to rethink how they allocate work, relying on technology to help improve productivity and get more done with less.

While the economy struggles, there are several major technology currents that will continue to impact every organization. It’s not simply “one” technology, but rather a set of technologies and services that have “come into their own” in terms of mainstream acceptance.

We’ll examine “The Big Three”: Virtualization, Cloud Computing, and Green IT, and not only highlight the big advances expected this year, but discuss the organizational changes these initiatives require. These have all moved beyond the required hype, hope, and hysteria phases and are now part of every organization’s roadmap or planning process.
