The Economic Stimulus Package: What Your School Should Know.
As part of The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (the Economic Stimulus Package) the federal government will be distributing funding to the districts through Title I. Title I is a federal funding program that provides funds to school districts and schools with high percentages of children who are disadvantaged to support a variety of services.
Its overall purpose is to ensure that all children have fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and assessments. Normal process is that the federal government distributes funding to the states. The states are to then act as a distribution agent to the districts after the appropriate application process has been completed.
Also as part of the economic Stimulus Package, the federal government will be distributing funding to the districts through Title IID “Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT).”
Title IID is a federal funding program that is facilitated by the state office of education. It is also referred to as “E2T2”. Normal process is that the federal government distributes funding to the states, who are then to act as a distribution agent to the districts after the appropriate application process has been completed.
Note: Each town, municipality, and district will have its own administrator or public official who can help you understand how the funds will be disseminated.
